Toji Kaido is a master (shihan) shakuhachi player and teacher, who was given his title by world renowned grandmaster Yodo Kurahashi II of the Mujuan Dojo in Kyoto, Japan. Toji teaches from his small dojo in Portland, Maine. He has played in shakuhachi performances including the 50th Anniversary of Mujuan in Kyoto, and Honkyoku Shakuhachi music with Yodo Kurahashi at Mayo Street Arts in Portland. He has also played at Wild Graces Haiku Gathering, and Japan Day at the Portland Sea Dogs stadium.
